Between passion and transmission...

Founder of the AUGUSTINE House, Thierry Gripoix left us on July 7th 2022. 

Son of Josette Gripoix, grandson of Suzanne Gripoix, great-grandson of Augustine, Thierry symbolizes the 4th generation to excel in the art of glass paste.

Heir to this exceptional masterly know-how, he created his own brand in 2007.

This technique, developed by her great-grandmother Augustine, has been recognized and appreciated by the greatest Haute Couture Houses, such as Chanel, Yves Saint-Laurent and Dior... not to mention Givenchy, Balmain, Lacroix, Loulou de la Falaise, Nina Ricci and Louis Vuitton.

At twenty years old, Thierry Gripoix decides to join the family workshop. He discovers a place that conceals treasures of imagination, he tries the craft techniques related to the French tradition. It is a magical place where the paruriers realize by hand unique pieces of exceptional craftsmanship. He takes his first steps alongside his mother, under the watchful eye of his grandmother Suzanne Gripoix. A vocation was born.

In 1982, a first collection is entrusted to him for Jil Sanders. Then, he will collaborate at a rate of two annual collections with Isabel Canovas and this during eight years. He also worked for the House of Lanvin and Jacqueline de Ribes. At the same time, he continued to work with Nina Ricci, Givenchy, Scherrer, Dior and Saint-Laurent. Then he took over from his mother Josette and produced six collections a year for Chanel (in close collaboration with the ready-to-wear and Haute Couture studios) for over 20 years. A beautiful professional career, full of passion.

Capucine, her daughter, the 5th generation of Fashion Designer, is today the artistic director of the brand AUGUSTINE PARIS. She lives like an alchemist, the emotion of the relationship with the hand, she explores the expressive potential of glass enameling. Her taste is assured, her eye is wise. Her collections are airy, fluid, mobile, playful and modern. The accessory becomes essential.

From the paternal complicity, there remains and persists, very present, a creative couture spirit, a desire to play with the codes of the precious and a desire to constantly push back the limits of the technical possible and this by an unexpected mixture of forms, materials and colors.

Faced with this meticulous work which illuminates the most beautiful wardrobes, those of the elegant, the princesses, the divas and the stars of yesterday, Capucine, strong of the transmitted family know-how, has only one will: that to give a unique character to her own line.

Augustine's spectacular and sculptural couture jewelry is for women with an assertive style, who cultivate their originality and difference. Like its founder, Thierry Gripoix, Capucine has taken up the challenge of passing on the secret tradition of pearl enameling and the art of glass casting.

Steeped in old family archives, where she discovered precise drawings, detailed sketches and daring projects, Capucine, by her youth, creates collections adapted to new generations around the world, aware that there is neither present nor future without the heritage of the past.
